Community Legal Centre Opportunities (interstate - various) Jobs Board

An outstanding opportunity has presented to appoint the important role of Solicitor. Working with a dedicated legal team and reporting to the Principal Legal Officer, key responsibilities include:
Identify and determine legal issues consistent with the FVLSAC legal practice framework and funding guidelines
Undertake legal work including taking client instructions, drafting court documents and correspondence and provide legal advice
Attending court hearings
Build trusted relationships with clients
Refer clients with non-legal needs to Client Support Officers
Provide advice and support to colleagues as required
Comply with all relevant internal and external Legal Practice Standards
Assist in the development and delivery of relevant legal education and materials
It is expected that you will have a minimum of 2 years PAE in either Family Law, Child Protection or Domestic Violence matters. You will require outstanding communication skills and a demonstrated empathy for others in dealing with sensitive issues. As such, we are seeking expressions of interest from committed and motivated legal professionals who are seeking a change and are interested in positioning themselves into a role where you can make a significant difference to people's lives and circumstances.

knowmore is a nation-wide independent community legal centre providing free legal information, advice, representation and referrals, financial counselling, support and systemic advocacy for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. Since 2022 our service has expanded to provide legal advice and financial counselling for people applying to the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme, financial counselling for people applying to the Victorian Stolen Generations Reparations Package and free legal advice for survivors of child sexual abuse that are not eligible to apply to the National Redress Scheme. We continue to provide free legal advice, support and financial counselling in relation to the National Redress Scheme.
